POWRA IVCA Sliver Award

eOrigen scoops silver award for e-learning in International Visual Communications Association awards

An innovative risk assessment e-learning programme, created by multimedia training and communications specialist, eOrigen, has won the silver award for e-learning in the 2009 International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) awards.  The programme, developed for British Energy, brings clarity and meaning to a routine but critically important health and safety procedure.

The Point of Work Risk Assessment (POWRA) programme was commissioned by British Energy, to support the operational safety and excellence of its nuclear professionals working country-wide.  British Energy wants all staff on all sites, to stop, identify potential hazards, assess the risks and put in place suitable and sufficient measures to control hazards before they start work.

The eOrigen programme explains the importance and use of a Point Of Work Risk Assessment form that workers must complete at the start of each job and re-visit if working conditions change.  Attention-grabbing creativity and high quality production values – similar to those used in television documentaries – ensure that users are effectively engaged and internalise key messages surrounding situational awareness and the application of ‘human performance’ techniques.

The IVCA awards are the leading international awards for corporate communication.  They celebrate the finest achievements in business effectiveness, originality and creativity in production arts, corporate film, video and interactive media
Commenting on the eOrigen programme, the judges said:  “A creative approach to a dry subject matter convinced the jury that this project should pick up the Silver Award.  A clear, engaging and authoritative solution brought to life through the clever use of a variety of content and media that was particularly well pitched to its target audience.”

Mike Mulvihill, chief executive of eOrigen comments:

“We’re extremely proud to receive this award.  It recognises our commitment to creating high-impact multi-media solutions to our clients’ training and communications challenges.  Our expertise lies in bringing the techniques used in television and film production to multi-media solutions such as e-learning.  The results captivate user interest, accelerate learning and generate the very best results for our clients.”
