eOrigen.com gains ECDL-F and BCS Approval for e-Citizen Courseware

Multimedia and elearning specialists eOrigen.com Ltd, have obtained ECDL-F and BCS approval for their multi-media based e-Citizen courseware.

e-Citizen is a basic skills qualification developed by the European Computer Driving Licence Foundation (ECDL-F) and the UK Awarding Body is the British Computer Society (BCS).

The eOrigen.com courseware has been widely cited as the best available to engage and encourage uptake from potential e-Citizen candidates. This recognition has been endorsed by the company's major channel partners - Applied Technology Services, Advance Learning and NCC/ATS.

The e-Citizen qualification has been endorsed by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, following the publication of it's aims for local authorities to "establish e-skills training programmes for Council Members and Staff achieving recognised basic level of attainment eg...British Computer Society Qualification e-Citizen".

About the e-Citizen Qualification

The qualification provides foundation computer and e-skills specifically for those with a limited knowledge of computers and the Internet.

e-Citizen is intended to help people bridge the digital divide by giving them the necessary skills to participate online across a broad range of environments, from dealing with government departments to searching for information and buying products and services.

e-Citizen has been specifically designed for all adults who are not using the internet or have limited experience with it. The qualification has wide appeal to diverse sections of the population, including:

• People with little exposure to the Internet
• Senior Citizens
• Public servants
• Long-term unemployed
• Those who do not work outside the home

e-Citizen is open to everyone regardless of status, education, age, ability or understanding.

The British Computer Society (BCS) has successfully mapped the e-Citizen programme to the National Qualification Framework (NFQ) at Entry Level and the BCS Entry Level Certificate in Using ICT (e-Citizen) (Entry 3) will therefore be eligible for funding provision via the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in England for those organisations that are eligible to claim.

e-Citizen has been accepted as a 30 guided-learning hour programme with LSC programme weighting set at B-1.12 and is listed under Learning Aim Reference: 10044218.
